This article involes approximately 700 NYC teachers who have been removed from there teaching positions due to various forms of misconduct. However, their union contract makes it almost impossible to fire them. Therefore, these teachers have been banned from teaching and placed in so called rubber rooms, where they can spend their days however they would like, and still receive their salary.

sign me up! I think i had some of those teachers in their pre-rubber room days.
ReplyDeleteI need to get in contact with the union person resposible for writing that contract.
ReplyDeletewow, that is crazy. Doesn't give them much of an incentive to be good roll models to the students.
ReplyDeleteI can't speak of teacher's unions. But I can say that other employee formed unions don't have the perks that teachers may get. Even though the union is there to stand behind the employee, there are many other drawbacks!
ReplyDeleteI really do think there is a problem with this. Unions...maybe...not so good any more?
