HUMMER "MADE IN CHINA"?

It seems as GM is feeling the crunch of lacking sales another American product may be made in China. GM is offering their Hummer productivity to China which is entertaining the buyout option.

  2. Yeah, I agree. It's too big for the road and needs to stay in the service. Although, we need to keep American made products here instead of oversees. The more jobs oversees the less we have here.

  3. Whats sad is that the "better" of GM's brands are getting the axe (Saab and Saturn).

Part of the problem was the bloated array of brands and vehicles for too many years.

Should be interesting to see what happens, since the brand "Hummer" has such a lousy stigma attached to it. Is there a demand in China for SUV's (or crossovers, or whatever they are called now)?. Will the "new" Hummer be sold here? Will there be a demand for it here?

Interesting to see what will play out.

  4. yea, remember when Saturn came out i felt like the people that bought them were like a cult! I was really surprised to see that the brand loyalty had fallen so much.

I agree, it's all about the jobs, Toyota and Honda both build a lot of their cars here in the US while Ford, I believe, makes many of their cars in Mexico...so which is the American made car?

  7. What saddens me so much about this is not that the Hummer itself is "going to China" but more that there will be one more thing the will be sold in America with the imprint of MADE IN CHINA on it. I agree with Patrick that so many of the products sold here now are either made somewhere else or, if they are "foreign", they are assembled here in the USA. We, as a country and a global business player, seemed to have lost many markets to overseas productions. That is what bothers me the most on this.
