Regulations on direct interstate shipping in the wine industry

I recently took a trip to napa valley where I found having wine shipped home to Pennsylvania was prohibited. It had not crossed my mind there would be a state law preventing direct wine shipping. Bills have been introduced, however responses have been slow to passing a direct shipping legislation. Here is an intersting article I found on the subject.

  1. Yeah I wouldnt have thought that there was a law in place for that either esp since napa valley is such a big place to get some of the best wine from, what a shame.

  2. The PA Liquor Control Board has a death-grip on all things alcoholic in this state.

    Even better is the 3-tier system for beer distribution.

    Vendor --> Wholesaler --> Distributor

    In most of the world, the vendor sells directly to larger distributors (supermarkets, bars, etc).
