Underage Drinking Bars being shut down

If some of you dont know Wildwood is one of the biggest party places for middleaged adults to hang out in durring the summer. One of the biggest establishments for drinking in WildWood is a bar called Keenans. I visited this bar on Memorial Day of this year and was a little upset by the way they are handling the situation. They were shut down because of having two underage people in the bar and are now making everyone who is between the ages of 21 and 23 to fill out a waiver and have the bouncer keep your ID for the night. I nyself am 21 years old and was floored that i had to wait in one line to be told to go wait in another to fill out a waiver and then hope to remember to grab my ID at 3am. What are your thoughts on this? Here is a link I came across explaining why they are now doing this. http://www.philly.com/philly/news/local/20090516_Bar_owners_warn_Wildwoods_underage_drinkers__Don_t.html?posted=n

  1. This to me is ridiculous. They could get with the times, and just like the Casinos up the shore do, and check valid IDS once, upon entering. This is what most places do, and it shouldn't cause a commotion; if you're too young, you're not allowed in! If they have a fake that will pass, then use it and get in. I don't see what the problem with Keenan's is.

  2. yeah i totally agree it was such a hassle and the thing that bugs me most is they dont have ID scanners instead they make anyone under 23 wait in two extremely long lines just to get in. They need to update the policy!

  3. ridiculous. the drinking age needs to be moved back to 18. if one is old enough to vote and to go die for his country he's old enough to have a beer.

of course that being said the bar is doing what it feels it has to do in order to stay opened. they're also "persecuting" a relatively powerless group...i dont imagine any of them will be bringing a lawsuit against them anytime soon.

I would vote with my feet and find a place that treats me and my peers like adults.

  4. I agree with everyone, this is just ridiculous. Why is Keenans making people who are old enough to drink wait for such a long time.
